Robin Hahnel at MonkeyWrench Books This is the second of two talks recorded March 28, 2008.On March 28, I was fortunate to spend the day with Robin Hahnel and members of the Austin Project for a Participatory Society. Hahnel is a professor of economics at American University. With Z Magazine founder Michael Albert, he co-authored a compelling, radical economic vision called participatory economics, or Parecon for short. Hahnel spoke at UT-Austin and MonkeyWrench Books to different groups of scholars, students, and activists. In these two talks, which cover many similar themes and topics, he discusses alternatives to corporate capitalism, different economic visions, and Venezuela’s social economy, which he describes as “the first great social experiment of the 21st century.” Both recordings include question and answer sessions. The volume is a bit low on the recording, since Robin had been losing his voice. Robin Hahnel speaking at MonkeyWrench Books Right click to download and save.
